Boro to play in white next season

A picture of Stevenage’s new shirt has been posted on the Borochat forum. The shirt this season will be from new suppliers Vandanel after a four year partnership with Italian sportswear company Errea ended in May. The new shirt looks somewhat different to previous Boro shirt’s with it being predomantly white with one red stripe down the right side. It is a nice shirt, but it doesn’t feel like a Stevenage home shirt to me. It reminds me of the Trophy Final shirt and while that was also nice, it was for a one off occasion. I think sticking to stripes would have been a better option.

Michael Bostwick was the only Boro player to make the top 50 defenders list in the Non League Daily paper, and he is supposedly a midfielder. Skipper and England “C” international Ronnie Henry and new signing Mark Albrighton didn’t feature although players from Northwood, Buxton and even ex captain Jason Goodliffe did make the elite list of defenders for the non league.

In the same paper, Steve Morison has reiterated his desire to leave Stevenage and move on to the football league. Morison is currently on the transfer list at his request after 2 successful seasons in Hertfordshire and is reportedly interesting Crewe and Plymouth Argyle.

“I don’t want to leave Stevenage for any other reason than ambition. If we’d gone up last year I’d of definately signed and stayed, but we didn’t and there’s no guarantee we’ll do it next year either. I want to be in the league this year and that’s not going to be with Stevenage.” Morison on future

Phil Wallace said on the main website the other day that the deadline for Morison to move on was coming up and that if a deal isn’t done by next week he will be taken off the list and considered to be a Stevenage Borough player next season. I think if Morison stays then he will be a vital member of the squad for next season’s promotion push, but could leave in January anyway, similarly to how George Boyd left for Peterborough.
