Boro target Pitt rejoins Cambridge

Courtney Pitt yesterday re-signed for Cambridge United, the club who released him little over 6 weeks ago. Pitt was told, by then manager Jimmy Quinn, he was not in the clubs plans, but new boss Gary Brabin has given the ex Chelsea trainee a new 2 year deal and intends to get the best out of the winger this coming season. It was thought that Graham Westley was planning to bring Pitt to Boro as a left wing-back, a position which he played several times last season under Quinn.
Even though signing Pitt is now not possible I suspect Boro are still on the lookout for a left back, with only Scott Laird who can play there at the moment. Laird has a big future ahead of him, but I’m not sure he can hold on to a regular place at Boro just yet. I’m sure GW is looking at the players available to possibly bolster this position as it is the only one in the squad that looks a bit questionable at the moment.
Elsewhere Steve Butler, Peter Taylor’s assistant in his time at Broadhall Way, is currently coaching at Ramsgate. I’m surprised Butler has not followed Taylor to Wycombe as Junior Lewis is already there, obviously, and thought that he would be part of the management team at Adams Park. Either way Ramsgate is still quite a step down from the Blue Square Premier and with Butler’s experience of playing in the league I thought he would be able to get a better job higher up the pyramid.
Lastly it’s 6 days until our first pre-season game away at Gillingham and if you didn’t already know the ticket prices are as follows; Adult £10 Concessions £5. Bob Makin said at the recent Supporters Association AGM that a large percentage of the gate receipts go to Boro as part of the deal which took Mark Stimson and Scott Barrett to Kent.
