There’s less than 48 hours to go until Boro’s first pre season game against Gillingham on Tuesday night. Boro travel to Kent to begin their pre-season programme against Mark Stimson’s newly relegated team consisting of 5 former Boro players. Other faces that Boro fans will be able to recognise will be former Rushden striker Simeon Jackson and ex Grays pair Stuart Thurgood and Dennis Oli. Although the game is at the Priestfield Stadium, Boro are due to receive a percentage of the gate receipts as part of the deal that allowed Mark Stimson to join the Gills last November.
Boro should have a full squad to choose from after 2 weeks back in training. Most of the new signings should get a run out at some point in what will be a tough start to the new season. There are still 8 players left from the squad that Mark Stimson walked out on last October.

Lastly some news on a few ex Boro players trying to find new clubs this summer. Tyrone Berry and Isaiah Rankin were on trial at Ebbsfleet yesterday as they were hammered 6-0 by Charlton. Berry was said to be fairly lively, while Rankin sounded his usual self, slow and unfit. Michael Blackwood who had a spell at Broadhall Way in 2002 has joined Mansfield after leaving Kidderminster .Another ex Boro striker, Tes Bramble, is now on trial at Maidenhead after apparently not turning up on trial at Kettering.
