The Iyseden Christie situation

Graham Westley explained to fans who attended the “20-20″ teamtalk yesterday why Iyseden Christie was allowed to leave the club for Kettering on loan. Westley said that IC made him “unhappy” and didn’t seem to have the right attitude with regards to getting back to match fitness. Christie made his debut for Kettering in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. Oxford took the lead through Yemi Odubade, but Kettering remained unbeaten thanks to a 90th minute Gareth Seddon strike. Here’s what some Kettering fans on their forum thought of Christie.

“It was a tough one, i thought he did very well. He held the ball up and never took any shit and put himself about. But as a attacking force i think we were better when he went off, we certainly attacked with more pace and faster with more urgency, but regards Christie i liked what i saw today.” Dazza (KTFC)

“He did alright actually. Put himself about, held it up quite well and had our best chances. One a header that he might have done better with from 8 yards and a volley 14 yards out that he blasted on the volley towards the net but was blocked unintentionally for a corner. Ended up going off concussed after a kick to the face but showed enough to think he might do quite well.” Murphy’s Lob

“Impressed me on Saturday, will be a lot better with games under his belt I’d think.” Beatpusher

Their thoughts echo how I felt Christie had performed for us so far this season. He needs to get fitter, that is obvious, but if he does that and gets a few minutes under his belt then I think he can play an important role for any team in this league. I don’t think he has a future at Boro now, but I think if he does well at Rockingham Road he’ll sign permanently for them in January.

An interview with Iyseden Christie from the Kettering site can be heard here.

Elsewhere in the Blue Square Premier, Grays hit 3 second half goals to beat Kidderminster 3-2 at the Recreation Ground in front of a crowd of just 525. Crowds throughout the BSP seem to be quite low at the moment. Torquay beat Northwich to move above us into 18th. Wayne Carlisle put them in front in the 10th minute before Lee Steele equalised 10 minutes into the second half. A 96th minute penalty from Tim Sills gave the Gulls all 3 points.
