Altrincham Preview

Altrincham are the next visitors to Broadhall Way as Boro look to continue where they left off after beating Burton Albion 4-1 last weekend. That win would of given the team a lot of confidence going into Saturday’s game and hopefully they can repeat their performance against an Altrincham side who are already in their customary position of 20th. Altrincham drew their last game 0-0 at home to Salisbury, but had lost their previous 2 games 1-0 to Histon and Eastbourne respectively.

Boro’s defence shouldn’t be troubled that much as Altrincham have not scored many goals at all this season. Chris Senior is always a threat for them and Colin Little is proven at this level. Lee Elam has also joined Alty this season and is still a threat, although is now over 30. Their recent record at Boro isn’t that great. Boro won at home last season live on Setanta thanks to a brace from Craig Dobson, but were beaten the season before in a smash and grab. Boro dominated the game and ended up losing 1-0. The season before we opened the season at home to Alty and won convincingly 3-0. The goals coming from Elding, Stamp and Dino Maamria.

I would like Boro to keep the same team, but whether that is possible I don’t know. Bostwick and Martin were superb in midfield last week and even if Mills is back from his facial injury then the midfield should remain the same. I assume Boylan will partner Morison up front again after they shared 4 goals between them last week. Mitchell Cole may come into the side, but with McMahon and Wilson both playing well then he could be again on the bench. One change that could happen could be Anaclet coming into the side in place of Albrighton.

This is the sort of game that we need to be winning if we are to get back up towards the play-offs so 3 points is essential. I’m confident that we will beat Altrincham as their away record is pretty terrible and they look toothless up front. We look a bit more organised now Chris Day is in goal. He seems to have given the defence a bit more confidence and we look more solid. Morale in the squad is high and now look like we can score goals. Morison is hitting form and his partnership with Boylan looks good.

Prediction: Boro 2-0 Altrincham
