Boro’s start – statistically speaking

It’s been a rollercoaster start to Stevenage’s 15th consecutive season in the top-level of non-league football. So far, Boro have picked up 21 points and lie in 11th place in the Blue Square Premier table. This time last season was around the time Mark Stimson decided to walk out of Broadhall Way to join Gillingham. Our record at that time was played 15, won 10, drew 2 and lost 3. We had 32 points (11 more than this season) and were second in the league. We had scored 30 goals, conceding just 11 and had gone on a 8 game run of not conceding a goal. Here’s a few stats for this season so far…..

  • Stevenage have conceded 26 goals so far this season. Only Northwich and Lewes have worse records.
  • However, Boro have scored 24 goals. Only Crawley, Burton and Weymouth can better that.
  • Scott Laird is the only Boro player so far this season to be ever-present.
  • Boro have already won more matches live on Setanta this season than they did last.
  • Steve Morison is currently top scorer of the BSP with 9 goals.
  • On the 8 occasions Stevenage have taken the lead, they have not yet lost.
  • Boro have lost all 4 games they have been behind in at half-time so far this season.
  • From losing positions, Stevenage have won 7 points.
  • Boro have scored more goals in the first half of games, but conceded more in the second half.
  • The average attendance at Broadhall Way this season is 1,641.
  • The only first team player currently at the club yet to make an appearance for Boro this season is David Bridges.
  • 3 different players have been assigned the no.11 squad number this season (Westcarr, Upson, Black)
  • Morison has scored 37.5% of Boro’s goals and has missed 3 matches due to suspension.
