Salisbury Preview

Graham Westley’s side face Salisbury City tomorrow afternoon as they look to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat last time out away at Eastbourne Borough. Lyle Taylor’s last second strike at Priory Lane gave Boro their sixth defeat of the season and cemented Boro’s mid-table position in the Blue Square Premier. Salisbury now find themselves in a similar position to Boro after a recent dip in form. City started the season well, even topping the table at one point, but are now in a run of 6 without a win, including 5 straight defeats.

Boro could be without Steve Morison tomorrow afternoon after he picked up knock in midweek. I think he will make it though and should line up again with either Mitchell Cole or Callum Willock and not “Michael Bostick” as the BBC report says. Andy Drury is available for selection again after coming through a reserve game during the week against Luton Town. Salisbury have a few more problems with regular goalkeeper Ryan Clarke still out injured as well as Mike Fowler, Jimmy Sangare and Rob Sinclair.

Last season we played Salisbury 4 times, after drawing them in the FA Cup qualifying round. Our last game against them ended in defeat thanks to a late Matt Tubbs strike at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium. At Broadhall Way, Salisbury lost 3-1 in what was a confortable afternoon for Boro. The two FA Cup games were quite dull affairs and around the time when Mark Stimson left the club. A Mark Molesley goal was enough to send Boro through to the next round. City also lost in the FA Trophy quarter-final at BHW 3-0.

Tomorrow won’t be easy, but I’m actually feeling reasonably confident about the game. Nobody likes coming to Broadhall Way and I think we could end up comfortable winners. Our season so far has been inconsistent and that will continue tomorrow with a good, convincing win before we get ready to welcome Horsham in the FA Cup next Saturday.

Prediction: Boro 2-1 Salisbury
