Barrow Preview

Boro face Barrow at Broadhall Way on Saturday after a week away from Blue Square Premier action. Barrow are struggling at the wrong end of the table at the moment and were knocked out both the FA Cup and FA Trophy since their last BSP match against Forest Green, which also ended in defeat. Funnily enough Barrow’s last win in the league came against FGR, but it was way back at the beginning of November. Barrow have also lost the services of former Accrington striker David Brown who has joined Jim Harvey’s side in Gloucestershire.
The Cumbrian side are currently just a point off the relegation zone, so 3 points are very much needed and they couldn’t of wished for a tougher next 3 games. After the trip to Hertfordshire, Barrow have Kiddy at home before travelling to the Pirelli Stadium to face Champions elect Burton Albion. It’s highly possible that they could be in the relegation zone before the end of the month after an impressive start to life in the top tier of non-league football. It hasn’t been any better in the Cup competitions after a narrow defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and a hammering at home to local rivals Workington in the Trophy.
Stevenage, however are one of the form teams in the BSP and go into the match with Barrow on a high after booking their place in the 3rd round of the Trophy with a mid-week win down at Farnborough. Boro were in control throughout against their Southern League opponents and will be confident of keeping the unbeaten run going this weekend against an out of sorts Barrow side. It was very much the other way round back in late August when a win-less Boro made the long trip north and recorded their first win of the season at Holker Street. Goals from Scott Laird, Lawrie Wilson and Callum Willock gave Boro an important victory which kick-started the season.
I think with the feel-good factor slowly returning to BHW then another victory is very possible here. Barrow are on a bad run and although they have shown at times this season that they can be a tough team to beat, I think Boro will have too much for them and will win the game comfortably.
Prediction: Boro 3-0 Barrow
