Forest Green Preview

It was another game and another win on Saturday when Boro made the trip up to Manchester to face Graham Heathcote’s Altrincham side. Although the result looked unlikely for a while, a Mark Roberts strike won GW’s side all 3 points and extended their winning run to 10 games. At the moment, whatever the performance is like, Boro don’t look like losing and that is massively important as the run in begins tomorrow night against Forest Green, who will come to Broadhall Way looking to avoid another 4-0 hammering like they received last month in the FA Trophy.
Stevenage comfortably beat Jim Harvey’s side a few weeks ago to progress into the semi-finals of the Trophy. Tomorrow night will be a totally different game though and I expect FGR to be much more defensive in their shape as they look to avoid another defeat. On recent form, FGR look weak defensively conceding 4 against us and then 3 against Torquay in a 3-3 draw at Plainmoor. They drew 1-1 with lowly Grays on Saturday which would of disappointed boss Jim Harvey as that game was a 6 pointer as both teams scrap for survival. Forest Green’s danger man will be Andrew Mangan who has hit form at the right time for FGR. He’s hit 4 goals in his last 2 games.
Boro just need to keep winning if they are to have any chance of reaching the play-offs. It’s that simple. At the moment they are doing just that and are now on a 10 game winning streak. Boro are scoring goals and winning matches with an attacking swagger and it is pleasing to watch. The team has grown considerably since Christmas and are now unbeaten in the league since November when Wrexham beat us 2-1 at BHW.
“It’s a fresh game, a fresh evening. It’s up to us to keep posting the points. We’ve got it all to do, we know that, we have to keep doing it, there is no choice. We are all in the right frame of mind. We have just got to go back to work and go about winning the next game. That’s what you do if you are a decent side.” Westley on what Boro have to do
There’s no reason why the run can’t continue tomorrow night. Forest Green at home has proved to be a home banker down the years and after the performance against the same opposition just a few weeks ago, I can’t see anything but a home win. Ashton, Henry and Murphy are all expected to miss out again so Lawrie Wilson and Mark Albrighton will have to work hard in their place. If Steve Morison can find the net again then it could be a heavy score, but Boro will need to find their attacking fluency which was lacking against Altrincham on Saturday.
Prediction: Boro 3-1 Forest Green
