Massive win at York lifts Boro’s hopes

Tuesday night saw Boro travel up to Yorkshire and pick up a very valuable 3 points as the race for the play-offs continues. The following night Kidderminster visited struggling Woking and thumped the Cards 5-1, who sacked manager Phil Gilchrist the next morning. Kiddy are now back in 5th after Boro’s brief 24 hour stay there and the two sides meet on Saturday at Aggborough, which is a game that Boro can’t lose. A point will be sufficient enough, with Mark Yates’ side still yet to visit BHW this season. The way the play-off race is now shaping up is that it’s between ourselves, Kidderminster and Kettering, who are still not out of it after a respectable point at champions elect Burton on Tuesday, to who gets the last remaining place.
Stevenage’s win at York on Tuesday maintains the unbeaten run and keeps the confidence levels high going into Saturday’s game at Aggborough. Boro should also have the fresher legs with Kiddy playing 24 hours later this week. GW and co know the importance of the game on Saturday. Both games should be treated like a two-legged semi-final, with the winners favourites to land 5th place. Westley’s side have been hit with the injuries to David Bridges and Andy Drury, but with the FA Trophy final looming then players are playing for starting places at Wembley, so everyone should be that bit more motivated to perform.
Away from the pressure of the first team and the Boro reserve side lost heavily at home to Peterborough United. A Boro side featuring names like Ashley Bayes, Mark Albrighton and Peter Vincenti were soundly beaten by a young and vibrant Posh side. One familiar face returning to BHW was Shaun Batt who scored 2 of the 6 goals. A hat-trick from Kwesi Appiah and a further strike from Sergio Torres completed the scoring.
Should hear some news tomorrow regarding ticket details, prices and everything else to do with Wembley. A meeting is taking place between both clubs and the FA at Wembley tomorrow and everything is expected to be finalised then. it is anticipated that priority sales will begin on the 15th April. More can be read here. Talking of tickets, Boro have announced they have allocated another 250 to Cambridge for when they visit on Tuesday night. Surely that isn’t enough for their ‘proper’ support?
