The b2net Stadium was constructed over the early part of 2010 as Chesterfield prepared to move in at the start of the 2010/11 season after leaving their former home Saltergate. The stadium, along with a new superstore and hotel are located on a former glassworks site in the old Derbyshire town, just off the A61.

The build of the stadium is of high quality. Unlike a lot of modern grounds, Chesterfield’s has an touch of quality that shows the club put a bit of thought and money into its design. It has four separate stands which are all of equal height and size. The main stand has a glass exterior which gives it a nice look. It has a capacity of just under 3,000 and also houses the directors box and executive areas.

Either side of the main stand are two identical seated stands. One is the Karen Childs ‘Kop’, which seems to have taken over from the old Kop stand at Saltergate. This is where the majority of the Spireites will congregate and generate the atmosphere. The other stand is the Printability stand and this is where the away supporters are located. Occasionally, if there is too few travelling supporters, this stand is closed off and away fans are moved into the Midlands Co-Operative Stand.

The Midlands Co-Operative Stand is situated opposite the main stand. Again, it holds around 3,000 spectators, but doesn’t have any executive facilities. However, the TV gantry is on this stand, so you’re guaranteed a good view of the pitch. Cash is not accepted on the turnstiles during a matchday, so tickets will have to be purchased prior to kick-off in the ticket offices (portakabins) that are dotted around the stadium.

Chesterfield is located in North Derbyshire, so you’ll need to find your way over to the M1. Leave the motorway at junction 29, signposted Chesterfield (A617). Take the 2nd exit on the roundabout onto the A617 and follow this road (dual-carriageway) for approximately 5 miles until you reach a roundabout just outside the town centre. Take the 3rd exit at this roundabout onto the A61. Take a left at the first roundabout, where you’ll see a large Tesco, and the stadium entrance is a bit further down on the right hand side.

By train

Chesterfield station is served by East Midlands trains. The station is walkable, but will take you just over 20 minutes. From the train station, walk into the town centre and past the Crooked Spire. Locate Sheffield Road, which is one of the main roads going North out of the town and follow it until you see the ground appear on the right.
