As you probably well know; Underhill is not the greatest of venue’s in the football league. Famous for it’s slope from North to South, Barnet’s home is also where the Arsenal reserves play their home games, when they are not at their London Colney base. The ground was opened in 1907 and doesn’t seem to have changed much since then.

The main stand is on the West side of the ground and is quite small in size. It straddles the half way line and has 2 stands either side of it. One is the “Family Stand” which has a capacity of just over 200. The other stand on that side of the pitch is a small terrace, which is uncovered and holds about 500 people. With the main stand having a capacity of approximately 780, this side of the ground can hold about 1400 people.

Opposite the main stand is the East Terrace, which is where the majority of the home supporters congregate. This side is also where the away supporters are located. The stand is shared between home and away supporters, with some space being lost to segregation. The stand is covered and quite old fashioned.

At the south end of the ground, there is now a new stand which holds 1,000 supporters. It’s probably the best stand in the ground and provides a good view of the pitch. This end of the pitch previously had a temporary structure that had green seats. At the opposite end of the ground is another open terrace. Alongside that is a small seated area, which is given to away supporters who wish to sit.

Getting to Barnet

By car

Sat Nav reference: EN5 2DN

Probably the easiest journey that you’ll make as a Boro supporter these days. Get onto the A1(M) heading towards London. Follow it down to junction 1 (M25 jct) and get in the right hand lane. Stay in the lane for the A1081 (Barnet). Exit the roundabout and follow the road all the way, going over 1 roundabout, until you reach the centre of Barnet.

At the traffic lights, stay in the right hand lane and carry on into Barnet. Follow the road down the hill and then when you get past the tube station, get in the right hand lane and turn right at the traffic lights. At this point there should be a pub on the right. The ground should now be visible.

By train

Again, another straight forward journey. Get the train to either Welwyn Garden or Potters Bar and change to one of the slower trains going into Kings Cross. Once your on this, make sure you get off at New Barnet. Once your out of the station, turn right onto Station Approach and then left onto Station Road. Follow it until the end. The ground is over the road on the left.
