Luke Freeman joined Stevenage on a loan deal initially in November 2011. He began his career as a trainee at Charlton before moving on to Gillingham. After impressing at Priestfield, where he became the youngest player to make an appearance in the FA Cup, Freeman earned a big move to Arsenal, who paid £200k for the promising youngster.
Freeman was labelled as “an interesting prospect” by Arsene Wenger. Freeman spent 3 years at the Emirates Stadium, but never made a first team appearance. He was sent out on loan to Yeovil Town in the 2010/11 campaign, where he made 13 appearances at Huish Park, scoring 2 goals.
His loan spell at Yeovil was ended prematurely due to injury. After returning back to fitness, Freeman featured regularly for the Arsenal reserve side until the end of the 2010/11 season. After impressing the coaching staff at the North London outfit, Freeman was offered an extension to his contract with Arsenal until 2013. After a spell of more reserve football, Freeman made a loan move to Stevenage in November 2011.
He impressed everyone at Broadhall Way with his energetic performances on the left-wing and subsequently signed for Stevenage in a permanent deal in January 2012, just days before Graham Westley left the club to be appointed as the new manager at Preston North End.
