Boro signed Michael Bostwick during the close season of 2008 from Ebbsfleet United. Bostwick worked with Graham Westley at Rushden and at only 22 is an impressive defensive midfielder. Bostwick was part of the Crawley team that outplayed Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way in August 2006. He played very well that day, not only keeping Adam Miller and George Boyd quiet, but scoring as well.
He began his career at Millwall, but after a few loan spells at Crawley and then Rushden, he failed to break through to the first team. The South Londoner moved to Ebbsfleet United in 2007 and was a part of their successful run in the FA Trophy. After a successful season in Kent, Bostwick left the club to sign for Graham Westley at Stevenage. Bostwick had worked for the Boro boss before whilst at Rushden.
“Bossie” was an instant success at Broadhall Way and impressed in both central midfield and defence. His versatility is a big asset and he will play with the same commitment and quality wherever he is placed on the pitch. He started the 2008/2009 season mostly at right back before finally nailing a place in centre midfield alongside David Bridges. He finished his first season at Boro with another FA Trophy winners medal.
The 2009/2010 season began with Bostwick mostly filling in at the back to cover for the injured duo of Jon Ashton and Mark Roberts. He proved to be a fine stand in before moving back into midfield. With Stevenage playing 4-3-3 for most of the season, Bostwick played in the holding role and was a vital component within the team. His long shot ability also won Boro a few very handy points over the campaign. Bostwick signed a new two year deal in the summer of 2010.
