Robin Shroot joined Stevenage on trial ahead of the 2011/12 season. After impressing Graham Westley during pre-season, Shroot earned a two year deal with the Hertfordshire side.

He began his career at Wimbledon as a trainee, but never made a first team appearance. He spent a brief spell at Staines before signing for AFC Wimbledon in September 2006. Two years at Kingsmeadow was enough for Shroot before he joined former Boro defender David Howell at Harrow Borough. Shroot impressed at Harrow, so much so that Birmingham came calling for the 20 year old midfielder.

However, he never really made the cut at Birmingham. Loan spells at Walsall, Burton and Cheltenham earned him some valuable playing experience in the Football League, but he never got the opportunity to prove himself at St Andrews. He was released by Birmingham in the summer of 2011 as the club began to re-build under new manager Chris Hughton.

He’s described as a skilful, ball-playing winger who likes to take people on and put crosses in. He sounds like just the ticket for a side that struggled with creativity last season.
