Mark Newson was appointed as Gary Smith’s number 2, much to the surprise of the Boro fans who expecting Steve Guppy to be reunited with the former Colorado Rapids coach.
Newson enjoyed spells at Bournemouth, Fulham, Barnet and Tottenham as a player. He was most recently a youth coach at Crystal Palace.
